Arsenal's manager believes that the "finishers" in his squad might prove increasingly crucial than first-team players this season—a philosophy he admits adopting from the sport of rugby.

Gabriel Martinelli and The Belgian forward each scored—and set up each other—following their introduction as late replacements to seal a 2-0 victory for the London club against the Spanish side in the first Champions League fixture.

Recent Struggles and Arteta's Faith

Martinelli has endured a difficult period recently, losing form and being relegated to substitute duty, with new signing the English winger chosen on the left wing.

Trossard, on the other hand, has made only a handful of cameos so far after playing regularly during the previous term.

The Gunners' boss emphasized that starting on the bench does not diminish a individual's value, citing similarities with rugby's concept of impact players.

"These players are at least equally important, if not more so," he stated. "The finishers are going to be decisive this season sometimes than those who begin the game."

"Extremely satisfied since it is very difficult emotionally to leave players out," Arteta said. "Each occasion you reveal the starting eleven, you are disappointing a group of players."
